Purpose#

This review examines common scientific instruments through the lens of domain coherence, regime awareness, and substrate‑aligned measurement. Modern tools are powerful, but they often inherit assumptions from the domains that created them — assumptions that may not hold across all regimes.

Our goal is simple:

Help learners see how familiar instruments behave when viewed through
Green (aligned), Yellow (needs alignment), and Red (containment) regimes.

This is not a critique of the instruments themselves.
It is a clarity exercise.

By mapping each tool to its operational regime, we show:

  • where the instrument is already coherent
  • where calibration masks drift
  • where substrate sensitivity matters
  • where regime boundaries should be explicit

Everything readers already know about these tools remains true —
this review simply adds structure, context, and alignment.
