Electrostatic Analyzer#

Electrostatic analyzers measure particle energies using electric fields. Their operation is powerful but highly sensitive to field stability, contamination, and geometric assumptions.

Dimensional Core (SET)#

  • Spin: particle trajectories
  • Elec: primary measurement axis
  • Temp: affects field stability and outgassing

Why Red‑Zone#

Electrostatic analyzers operate in a fragile, inference‑heavy regime.
Small geometric or field variations produce large interpretive errors. Substrate sensitivity is high, and environmental drift is difficult to detect.

Regime Notes#

  • pos‑regime: ultra‑stable fields, clean vacuum
  • Q‑regime: minor contamination, field drift
  • neg‑regime: unstable fields, mixed species, charging effects

Containment Notes#

Requires explicit field‑stability, geometry, and contamination boundaries.
