Caliper#

Calipers measure linear dimensions through direct mechanical contact. Their operation is simple, stable, and nearly immune to substrate drift.

Dimensional Core (SET)#

  • Spin: not relevant
  • Elec: optional digital readout
  • Temp: minor expansion effects at extreme temperatures

Why Green‑Zone#

Calipers operate in a fully stable, substrate‑agnostic regime.
They measure distance directly, without inference layers or model assumptions. Calibration is trivial, drift is minimal, and environmental effects are predictable.

Regime Notes#

  • pos‑regime: direct contact measurement
  • Q‑regime: thermal expansion of materials
  • neg‑regime: deformation of soft or irregular surfaces

Alignment Notes#

Already aligned.
Only note: measurement reliability depends on the material being measured (rigid vs. deformable).
