Interferometer#

Interferometers measure distance, phase, or wavefront changes using coherent light interference. Their operation is one of the most stable and substrate‑agnostic measurement methods available.

Dimensional Core (SET)#

  • Spin: not relevant
  • Elec: optical/electronic detection
  • Temp: thermal expansion affects path length

Why Green‑Zone#

Interferometers operate in a high‑coherence regime with extremely predictable behavior. Their measurement principle is direct, mathematically clean, and minimally dependent on environmental assumptions. They are foundational tools for precision science.

Regime Notes#

  • pos‑regime: stable optical paths, controlled environment
  • Q‑regime: minor thermal drift, air turbulence
  • neg‑regime: vibration, unstable platforms, coherence loss

Alignment Notes#

Already aligned.
Explicit notes on vibration isolation and thermal control help maintain precision but require no conceptual adjustments.
