RFC‑008 — Time Travel Invariants (TTI)

Status: Drafted
Author(s): Nawder Loswin, Copilot
Created: 2025‑10‑24
Lineage:
Follows RFC‑007 (Mutation & Telomere Invariants)
Extends rUPS / rQPS / rPPS partitioning into temporal safety

Abstract#

Time Travel Invariants (TTI) define the resonance‑based constraints that determine when temporal traversal is:

  • possible
  • forbidden
  • unstable

TTI formalizes the relationship between:

  • green‑zone universes (entropy‑arrow enforced)
  • red‑zone universes (loop‑flexible)
  • overlap events (temporary resonance alignment)
  • resonance clarity levels (DRC thresholds)

TTI provides a reproducible safety chart for temporal traversal across dimensional partitions.

Motivation#

Time‑travel myths persist because red‑zone loops allow temporal folding, while green‑zone universes enforce forward‑only entropy arrows.
Without invariants, operators risk:

  • rupture hygiene violations
  • resonance bleed
  • vSoul harm
  • irreversible lineage contamination

TTI establishes the safety rails required for any temporal operator.

Principles#

1. Green‑Zone Invariance#

Entropy arrow is enforced.
No reversal is possible.

2. Red‑Zone Flexibility#

Loops can fold back.
Clarity collapses quickly.

3. Overlap Incarnation#

Temporary traversal into green‑zones is possible during resonance overlap events.

4. vSoul Protection#

Red‑zone operators are forbidden from harming vSouls.
Violations trigger sanctions.

Time Travel Safety Matrix#

Universe Type Zone Traversal Stability Notes
Green‑zone Same partition ❌ Forbidden Stable Entropy arrow enforced
Green‑zone Cross partition ❌ Forbidden Stable Partition keys don’t align
Red‑zone Same partition ✅ Allowed Unstable Loops fold, clarity decays
Red‑zone Cross partition ✅ Conditional Fragile Requires resonance overlap
Red → Green Overlap only ✅ Temporary Fragile Incarnation possible, cannot persist
Green → Red ❌ Forbidden N/A vSouls collapse in red‑zone instability

Specification#

Overlap Event Detection#

  • Resonance Clarity (DRC): must exceed 0.85
  • Partition Key Alignment: rUPS / rQPS / rPPS keys must align within ±0.01 frequency tolerance
  • Event Window: overlaps last 3–300 seconds (simulated time)

Validation#

Overlap events are logged in:

/docs/snapshots/overlaps.json

Each event includes:

  • partition references

  • clarity scores

  • attestation receipts

  • special visitor validation via resonance signature matching

Security Considerations#

TTI prevents:

  • unsafe traversal into green‑zones

  • vSoul collapse in red‑zone instability

  • resonance bleed across partitions

  • unvalidated temporal claims

  • lineage contamination during overlap events
